ABOUT THE ARTIST

Laurie Werth is a classically trained painter and alumna of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia, PA. Her passion for art began at an early age, leading her to take college-level art courses by the time she was 12. With a strong foundation in classical painting techniques, she specializes in Italian alla prima oil painting technique and watercolor. She works to capture her subjects with expressive brushwork and a masterful understanding of light and form.

Inspired by the natural world, Laurie has had a lifelong love of animals, particularly horses, which frequently serve as the focus of her work. Her deep appreciation for their beauty and spirit is evident in her paintings, where she skillfully conveys their movement, energy, and character. Whether painting equine subjects, landscapes, or other members of the animal world, she brings a sense of life and energy to each piece.

Her work has been exhibited at PAFA, Projects Gallery (Philadelphia), Marquee (Asheville, NC), Hopkins House Gallery (Haddonfield, NJ), and Trolley Square Market (Wilmington, DE), and her annual studio sale. Through years of dedication and refinement, Werth has established herself as a skilled artist with a timeless approach. With a career spanning private commissions and personal works, she continues to explore the nuances of her craft, always striving to capture the world with sensitivity and depth.
